Red-White and White-Black (紅白&白黒, Kouhaku & Shirokuro) are a pair of enigmatic characters that serve as the Stage 2 Bosses in Emergency Everyday.

General Information[edit | edit source]

Red-White and White-Black are from Emergency Everyday, which is a game that predates Evanescent Existence. While not officially created by either Daijin or JynX, their identities within Emergency Everyday were created by Daijin.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Abilities[edit | edit source]

Not much is known about the abilities of these two, and the official profile's information coverage leaves much to be desired. However, some information can be gleaned from the attacks they use: Red-White uses yin-yang orbs in combat whereas White-Black uses lasers. They may have similar if not identical abilities to Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame from the Touhou Project series of games, and may be the actual characters themselves.

Background Information[edit | edit source]

Name[edit | edit source]

The two characters have fairly straightforward names. Kouhaku (紅白) means "red and white" and Shirokuro (白黒) means "white and black". Curiously, White-Black is referred to as Black-White (黒白) in the post-battle dialogue, although this may simply have been a careless oversight.

Design[edit | edit source]

Red-White and White-Black are a compound character consisting of two silhouettes whose color gradients coincide with their respective names. Red-White's silhouette strongly resembles Reimu Hakurei, whereas Black-White has a striking resemblance to Marisa Kirisame.

Influences for future Len'en characters[edit | edit source]

Many of the duo's designs and concepts would eventually be used for the characters created by JynX for the Len'en Project;

  • Haiji Senri: Like Red-White and White-Black, Haiji makes many blatant references to the spellcards of Touhou Project characters, with the explanation that the characters themselves (for Red-White and White-Black) or the ideas of the spellcards used in Mugenri (for Haiji) originally came from Gensokyo in some manner. Ironically, neither Reimu nor Marisa are referenced in Haiji's spellcards, despite the fact that Red-White and White-Black are implied to be those characters.
