Nelo (ネロ Nero) is the protagonist of False World.
General Information[edit | edit source]
Nelo is the protagonist of False World who is locating, fixing and collecting anomalies for an unknown reason. Not much is known about them in the current moment.
Background Information[edit | edit source]
Name[edit | edit source]
Nelo's name is possibly based on the word nero, the direct romanisation of their name's Japanese rendition (ネロ). It could come from Italian nero, which means "black", in reference to their black skin which is so dark that it absorbs all light. Additionally, it may also be a reference to the Roman Emperor Nero, who is often associated with the "beast" from the Christian Book of Revelation, in turn referencing Nelo's title of "False Beast".
Design[edit | edit source]
Nelo has skin which absorbs all light, rendering it completely black. Their eyes resemble the semicircle variant of the Eye of Senri, having two side-by-side perhaps intentionally reminiscent of those on Zelo's hat.
Nelo wears a hooded capelet and a sleeveless dress which conceals most of their body with the exception of their forearms and lower legs. Their clothing is white on the inside and black on the outside, though at a lighter shade of black than their skin. Their dress seems to have a drawstring strung though its collar, though it is unclear what purpose they would serve. Their hood has two extensions on top shaped like rabbit ears and an hourglass-shaped clasp holding the two sides of the cape together. From the back of their head extrudes, through large openings in the back of their hood, two large rolls of camera film in which they store "anomalies". It is difficult to tell what is under their hood, though they seem to have hair and/or are wearing some sort of headgear. On the back of their head is a black, mechanical arm attached to their head holding a circular reflector folded up into a black sector shape, its point pointing upwards. When Nelo unleashes their bomb, it opens up into a full circle, revealing its white inside surface.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
- False World
Nelo is a playable character and the protagonist of False World. Not much else is known at the current moment.
Relationships[edit | edit source]
- Yabusame Houlen & Tsubakura Enraku
As fellow playable characters, Nelo can be found looking for anomalies alongside Yabusame and Tsubakura in False World, although it is unclear whether any actual relationship exists between the three characters.
Additional Information[edit | edit source]
- While it is unclear whether this is intentional, as there is no confirmed relationship between the two characters, Nelo's name in Japanese happens to be the result of shifting each kana in NiLU's Japanese name by two down the conventional order.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- ↑ The inner bracket indicates how the spell is supposed to be read in Japanese, as "zii senyou".
- ↑ Previously titled Electronic Flash (エレクトロニック フラッシュ) earlier in development, as seen in the 11th Len'en Anniversary: "Trick Nostalgie NexT" video.
- ↑ "XE" likely refers to the chemical element xenon, used in xenon flashlamps to generate a quick burst of extremely intense white light.
