Lin (リン, Rin), model number Monochroid[Lin] = _Type_iX00[Rei] or Monochroid[■] = _Type_iX■[■■■];, is a monochroid created entirely by Rei. However, due to the fact that Rei lacks experience in making monochroids and something called the Bird's Eye, it broke down shortly after its activation. Unlike Rei and Zelo, Lin is not listed as a member of Trick Nostalgie.

Personallity[edit | edit source]

Background Information[edit | edit source]

Name[edit | edit source]

Curiously, unlike the other monochroids, Lin appears to have 2 model numbers.

They were initially introduced by Rei as Monochroid[Lin] = _Type_iX00[Rei], and their nickname is Lin (リン, Rin). Continuing with the trend of monochroids being named after zero in various languages, Lin's name comes from the Chinese pronunciation of zero, ling (). Their name is often appended with the Japanese honorific -tan (たん).

Interestingly, this name is missing a semi-colon at the end, which is prominent on Rei, Zelo and NiLU's model numbers. This might be one reason why Lin was not able to function properly, as lines of code usually require a semi-colon at the end.

In the credits of the 10th Len'en Anniversary Video, they are instead known as Monochroid[■] = _Type_iX■[■■■];, in which the nickname, type number and referenced character are all censored. Also notably, this version of their model number does contain a semi-colon.

Design[edit | edit source]

According to Rei, Lin was made to be a "gijinka of the concept of gijinka", gijinka being the anthropomorphism of various animals and objects, a popular trend in Japanese manga and anime, examples at the time including "Kemono Friends" and "Cells at Work!". Lin's voice was also made reusing Zelo's, while their appearance was modelled after that of their own, combined with various popular gijinka motifs, including:

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Lin debuted in this video, in which they helped promote the at the time upcoming album A World Outside Fantasy. They broke down and was put into a trash can.

Lin was revealed to be still active in the trash can, and watched the Book of the Cafe, Teaser Movie No. 1 along with Rei and Zelo.

Lin participated in a gift exchange with the other monochroids in celebration of Christmas.
